Governor Rick Perry

Perry was sworn in as the 47th governor of Texas on December 21, 2000, and was elected to four-year terms in 2002 and 2006. Governor Perry has focused his administration on creating a Texas of unlimited opportunity and prosperity by improving education, securing the border, and strengthening the economy.

Under Gov. Perry’s leadership, Texas has consistently been ranked as one of the best places for economic development and expansion in the nation due to our low taxes, reasonable regulatory structure and highly educated workforce. In less than five years, Texas has created 1 million net new jobs.

Gov. Perry has also led the effort to greatly improve the education system in Texas by increasing standards and accountability, raising teacher pay and overhauling the states school finance structure. Since 2001, Gov. Perry has presided over $17 billion in tax cuts and the largest lawsuit reforms in the nation.

Additionally, Gov. Perry has directed millions of dollars to enhance border security through operations integrating local, state and federal law enforcement equipped with enhanced technology.

Perry is an Eagle Scout and a lifetime member of American Legion Post #75. The Perrys are members of Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin. Perry and his wife, Anita, have two children.

Mike Reilly has announced and provided Master of Ceremony duties at over 1000 events in his career. He is best known as the “Voice of Ironman” Triathlons worldwide. He has welcomed over 100,000 athletes across Ironman finish lines to the world famous phrase “You are an Ironman” since 1989. He has been the voice at Running, Triathlon and Cycling event finish lines including 22 Ironman Hawaii World Championships and 92 Ironman’s total. Mike is one of the original 10 team members of the Active Network in San Diego, CA formed in 1999 now employing over 2500. He is the Vice President of Major Events at Active which is the world’s largest participatory sports online registration company.
